About the Club

Evolve was founded by Kelly Porter and Kelly Van Winden in 2007. Both had long been troubled by the fact that Club volleyball was dictating family’s schedules around volleyball. The overly long season, the training schedule, the finances, and the political agenda all contributed to what seemingly was supposed to benefit the young adult. This did not fit Kelly and Kelly’s ideas’ in developing a young athlete’s skill and character. Their solution was to start Evolve Volleyaball. Their goal was to provide young athletes in the Napa Valley an opportunity to play the game of volleyball and develop their character. Kelly and Kelly recognize the importance of teaching more than volleyball. These are years to develop values, self esteem, self-confidence, accountability AND trust. Evolve Volleyball partners with parents to support that growth. It is Evolves’ mission to not only train the skills of volleyball, but to grow the character of the athlete.

Highlights

Three Evolve players have signed college volleyball contracts for the upcoming school year. The Fall Prep program offered places athletes in set groups designed to master their skills and techniques.

Noteworthy Coaches

Rand Rognliend: Los Angeles City Most Valuable Player, on a volleyball club team Malibu that took 2nd place at the Junior Olympics 18 & under, 4 years as a setter/back row specialist at UCLA under legendary coach Al Skates, where his team won an NCAA Championship.

Danielle Aquirre: Selected All Western State Conference libero and honorable mention. Jessica Bruton: Napa College all conference selection 2011&12. Team captain senior year at Vintage High and Napa College.

Christina Fonville: A Napa High School graduate and MVP of the MEL and All County 1st Team Volleyball Selection. Continued play at Napa Valley College and earned Bay Valley Conference Championships back-to-back seasons and All Conference team honors. Christina also enjoys playing sand volleyball and won the CBVA 18 and Under sand double event in 2011.
