About the Club

Palo Alto Elite Volleyball clubwas established in 2008 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit status and is incorporated in California and offers multiple team options for girls of varying abilities from ages 10 – 18 yrs including; Development, Area, and Power.

Palo Alto Elite Volleyball Club is dedicated to teaching excellent volleyball skills, allowing players to learn the value of teamwork, to learn the life lessons sports offer, including fun and family bonding.

The Club was established by a group of parents whose goal was to provide players living in the Mid-peninsula area an opportunity to play volleyball for a club that provided convenience, program consistency and a community connection. The first season opened with an amazing 8 teams fielding 96 players and we are now at 14 teams with 180 players!   The demand for club volleyball is steadily increasing and is limited only by the lack of practice facilities.

Palo Alto Elite incorporates the Positive Coaching Alliance philosophy into our practices, and is supported by our Coaches, Parents, and Players. They use two of their highly successful programs: the Double Goal Coach and the ELM Tree of Mastery (Effort, Learning, Mistakes).

The Double Goal Coach emphasizes goals beyond the scoreboard. One goal is to win, while another goal is to maximize the learning of great life lessons that sports can teach kids.

For players, anxiety goes up when they’re only focused on the scoreboard because they can not individually control the score. Instead of focusing on the score, coaches need to focus on the confidence of their players. Palo Alto Elite wants confident players because as self confidence increases, players tends to work harder and stick to their task longer. The end result? A higher score!  Even more important, as Double Goal Coaching points out, “Kids who learn to get back up after disappointment will do the same later in life.” Sports teaches you how to bounce back, and they want all of their players to develop this ability in playing for Palo Alto Elite.
